It has worked great on every plastic that I've used it on. The brand I use is duplicolor. I've also found that enamel will work if you use an acrylic base coat as well. That is what I did for my custom
Angel. I used an acrylic base blue then used a metallic blue enamel over that.

For the Joker I was able to use just a thinned flat black wash since the colors where so dark. After it dried I resealed it with the auto top coat then a final dull coat.
