Thank goodness for DCTV because I'm not going to be spending my money on their crappy big budget movies. I will be really surprised if this movie makes it's money back. The sad thing is that they will just see it as that these characters are not popular, and not that its a crappy take on those characters.

Yep, that's kind of my fear, too. Like Green Lantern. Hal Jordan is an awesome character, and as GotG showed, a space movie done right can be huge. But the Green Lantern film was crap on a stick.

Legends of Tomorrow looks good, but I wish they would've made a Suicide Squad show instead. It's just a team that I think better lends itself to an episodic TV show with a revolving roster than it does a movie. Heck, they already would have a decent cast from Flash and Arrow. Waller, Cold, Boomerang, Cupid, and Deadshot would be a nice base. And they could use just about anyone else, even characters like Katana or Vixen.

I think that they were heading down that path for a Suicide Squad show. They were also going to have Harley in the Squad on Arrow, but the WB higher ups told them no, because of this movie and I bet that is why they also killed off Arrow's Deadshot. I think they gave BS a reason of not wanting to confuse the audiences with having more than one version of the characters.

Yeah, that's always been the presumed reasoning. I don't know, looks like Will Smith being Will Smith in every other Will Smith movie that's come before. Doesn't sound much like Floyd. The whole thing just doesn't impress me much. I'm sure it'll do well enough, but it just looks like they're missing the mark. We'll see, I guess.

Doesn't look too bad to me, actually. Definitely different. I guess I'll just have to see how well I'll accept these newer versions of characters I'm already familiar with. After everything New 52 and Marvel Ultimates threw at me, this feels like par for the course.

So, anyone else see this? I went in expecting the worst but found I actually enjoyed the movie. Don't get me wrong, as far as stories go, this isn't great. In fact, if you've played any first person shooter game in the last twenty years then you've already seen this movie. But I thought they did a pretty good job of characterization. I even eventually got beyond Will Smith playing Will Smith as Deadshot. And I liked Leto's Joker. I described him as a cross between Nicholson's Joker and all the old Jimmy Cagney gangsters. It's definitely watchable. The plot is pretty generic, and the villains are literally faceless, and there's a lot of illogical holes in the plot you really can't discuss without spoilers, so I won't, but it's a decent summer popcorn movie. Certainly not anything I'd pay to see again, but definitely watch again on HBO, etc.
