Superman: Back In Action TPB

Recently I have been bitten hard by the trade paperback bug. Traditionally, I have not been a huge tpb buyer. I would pick some up here and there - DKR, Longbow Hunters, Y1, MOS - they were great stories and deserving of being collected plus the little extras like intros and afters - I look at them like dvd special features. Since the tpb has more or less become the standard for every book I feel the specialness has been lost. Then I found this little gem. I found Back In Action irresistible since it features Nightwing prominently - hey look at my moniker - and that was the reason I bought it - I paid little to no attention to the other stories reprinted here - until I got it. There are three DCCP issues reprinted here - #'s 4,17 & 24 - the Metal Men, Firestorm and Deadman.

It is the Firestorm story that really got me juiced. I lamented its absence in the Firestorm book - although rejoiced at the Cancelled Comic Cavalcade addition - because I felt it should have been there since it was my first exposure to the character and, I feel, helped kick start Firestorm again by putting him back out there front and center, plus it came out before the Flash backup feature started - in fact - or opinion - without this particular issue there would have been no backup or JLA membership. All of the DCCP stories are drawn by JLGL so they look stunning and each has a one page intro by Busiek - as well as an intro to the whole section. Totally worth it.

I have also picked up quite a few other tpb's which I can share with you guys should you like but I don't want to "brag".

Hey wingnut, I've got Action Comics #841-#843 which features this same arc. I have to say that it was an excellent read. Would you say the DCCP issues are worth hunting down? I found it read pretty seamlessly but I'm happy to pick anything up that would further enhance the story.

JLGL's artwork alone is enough for me to pick this book up. I love his minimal use of shadows. Busiek writing is a major bonus.
