Okay, the next Gene Hackman classic came out a year before Mississippi's Burning which was 1987...it's called No Way Out, it was really sexy looking Poster



If you abbreviate the movie's title, it's NWO plus the Poster is a bit black & white



It stars Kevin Costner. He is a Lt. Commander of the US Navy.



Gene Hackman is the Secretary of State.



The great looking Sean Young is his mistress who always has My attention...



she's also attracted to Costner as well...



If you know Sean Young, she's usually sexual in her roles which I like




Thus making this a love triangle, this goes further than Under Fire did in 83



I've noticed how there's many similarities there is in Hackman's movies and I kinda find it weird, you'll see as I go on with more movie entries



She's very playful & exciting here, I really like women like that especially with good expressions



Because of this "triangle", this is where the plot thickens



A young Will Patton is a major player here.




as he's the man that helps out Hackman



A very young & classy hot IMAN (Star Trek 6: The Undiscovered Country) is in the film.




Howard Duff is here.



And so is Jason Benard.



Now, here's a strange one. George Dzundza is in this. Remember he was in Crimson Tide years later in 1995 that I spotlighted a while back





David Paymer (Howard the Duck & No Holds Barred) is here also.



St. Louis' own, the late great Nicholas Worth (Swamp Thing & Darkman) has a brief moment. I always thought he looked like a much bigger Bruce Willis.



Marshall Bell (A Nightmare on Elm Street 2, Tales from the Crypt (the Christmas episode), Total Recall, The X-Files & The Puppet Masters) is a CONTRA.

I remember my parents watching that one but can't say I have. Really, there's a whole chunk of Gene Hackman's career I've apparently missed.

Saw this preview over the weekend, looks nice and creepy.

Oh that's good. Yeah, it's not exactly a kidss movie Oh really you haven't seen nothing yet PB as there's more to come. It's just a shame I never talked about Hackman and how good his movies are before Actually, I saw that trailer of The Woman in the Yard last night Looks to be something they should have saved for Halloween time

Okay, here's the next Gene Hackman movie. Now pay close attention to this one especially the song at the end of My post, your gonna flip out about this one if you don't already it This one is called Loose Cannons and his co-star is none other than Dan Aykroid



This was one of the many classic movies that came out in the good year of 1990, 35 years ago this year



Now, before you see more about the film, I want you to read the bad criticism & trivia that the movie has recieved over the decades...even from Dan Aykroid himself said about it

From Wikipedia: "Loose Cannons received universally negative reviews from critics, and has been declared one of the worst films in the early 1990s. It has a rare 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 18 reviews.[3] Audiences surveyed by CinemaScore gave the film a grade "B−" on scale of A to F.

Vincent Canby, in his review for The New York Times, stated: "Mr. Hackman and Mr. Aykroyd deserve much better. They really do. Each gives a thoroughly professional performance that is consistently undercut by the direction of Mr. Clark.

Variety stated that "Dan Aykroyd's dexterous multipersonality schtick is the only redeeming feature of this chase-heavy comedy.Hal Hinson commented that "Hackman mostly just stands around watching Aykroyd run through his exertions with the look of a man who has something unspeakable on the sole of his shoe" in his review for The Washington Post. Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert gave the film a "Two Thumbs Down" vote on At the Movies, and called it "the cop-buddy comedy that hits new lows in an undistinguished field.

In May 2013, Calgary Police investigated after footage from the film was found in a landfill by a worker, who mistook it for evidence of an actual murder. It was later noticed that Aykroyd was in the frame, and the police contacted his agent who, after some searching, stated that it was a section from this movie. TMZ reported that after the incident Aykroyd said, "The movie should have been left in the landfill where it belongs."

Okay, now I don't think the movie is the best buddy cop movie ever, but it doesn't deserve all of that crap it got. This just might the most underrated buddy cop film one can see.

So, here's Gene Hackman...



he's a rugged veteran detective.



Here's his new partner, Dan Aykroid.



He's got a multiple personality disorder. This was during the heyday when the sickness was becoming a big known issue. Really, it's incredible how he was able to pull this off I mean he's really got the talent



Their really a great duo together.



So, what is the movie about you may ask Well, even though this is a comedy (yeah, Hackman was great at it and still making it serious it's really a dark one. Their after the notorious Adolph Hitler & Nazi P0rno/XXX/Skin Flick that was made way back during the age of the Nazis in the bunker. Steckler is in the film which yes, he was a Nazi. He's the one that has the access to it, so Hackman & Aykroid join forces with XXX guru Dom DeLuise for the help





Nazi S3x Exploitation is a real thing, so this movie is doing a soft disclosure of it





A great looking Nancy Travis is part of the Israelis and wants the $3X tape too, to expose it to the world so she joins them





Here's the Trailer & TV Spots. Look for a very young S. Epatha Merkerson from Law & Order & Terminator 2: Judgment Day. If you don't know her, she's the black woman cop talking to Hackman






Now, in the movie, there's a big scene where Aykroyd is doing Star Trek stuff...in 95's Crimson Tide, Star Trek was a big factor in one of the major scenes



Now, here's this scene from the movie. Hackman has a Cat and bad things happen to their house. A similar scene happens in a movie that I will soon spotlight, that said movie even talks about the Hiter situation as well



Now, get this. You know the other day I revealed that Popeye Doyle was played by Ed O'Neil from Married with Children. Well, Loose Cannons is a Gene Hackman movie, he was originally Popeye Doyle...what if I told you that Katy Sagal had something to do with Loose Cannons Yes, I'm talking about THE Katy Sagal from Married with Children with Ed O'Neil



Well, you know I always watch the end credits of movies for the music whether it is for score or a song or perhaps both. People always miss that opportunity to discover new music or something really cool either they hurry up and walk away during the show or stop it at home. A movie is never over till it's over when the end credits are done & dusted. Either way, I never do that, been like that ever since I've been a youngster. Now I know there is especially a huge amount of people that didn't last to the end of the film Loose Cannons the way they bash it. Well by doing so, they missed KATY SAGAL'S GREAT SONG during THE END CREDITS That's right, she has a really dandy song that she made just for this movie. Now, this is a special treat from Me

I've heard of Loose Cannons but never saw it. Kind of reminds me of Dragnet, but Akroyd was in a lot of duo movies back then.

Well, there was a lot of surprising stuff there, it's not as bad as plebeians make out it to be and of course most never talk about Katy Sagal in that great song, that was a big thing to Me

I read that they were making a Happy Gilmore 2 sometime ago. That looks good. Okay, the next Gene Hackman movie is Company Business that came out in 1991.




The movie is pretty cool but not as fun as Loose Cannons.



OK, here's another strange trivia aspect coming your way. Remember what I said about the Star Trek stuff. So, here's something else to keep that going. This movie, Company Business that came out 1991. The movie is directed by Nicklaus Meyer. He directed & wrote some Star Trek films including 82's Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, 86's Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home and 91's Star Trek 6: The Undiscovered Country and he also did 97's Tomorrow Never Dies 007 as well



Gene Hackman is retired CIA agent and is recruited to participate in a prisoner exchange with the Russians.



Mikhail Baryshnikov is that prisoner



They have good chemistry but like the previous year's Loose Cannons, it's far different than Dan Aykroid,



Also Kurtwood Smith is in the movie.




The late great Daniel von Bargen is here. He's yet another that would be in Crimson Tide and yes as a Russian no less



So is Géraldine Danon.



Big Fred Dalton Thompson has a bit part. There's a couple things here. #1 Like Hackman's co-stars from his movies like Orbach, Dzunza & Merkerson, Thompson has been in Law & Order as well #2. Thompson has been in Die Hard 2. Michael Kamen did the music for Die Hard 1, 2, & 3 and his did the music for Company business too (pic isn't from the movie)



Terry O'Quinn (Silver Bullet, The Stepfather & X-Files) has a very shadowy presence here.



There's some action here.






It's a pretty good movie but the way it ends is kinda unsatisfying

The most intriguing part of the movie was the music that made the movie better. The music was by the late great Michael Kamen. I was like holy crap, this music sounds like DIE HARD because it's by the same guy that did

That one I don't recall ever hearing about. The only think I ever saw Baryshnikov in was episodes of Sex in the City. Never knew he did anything else outside of ballet like this.

Okay, next up is The Quick and the Dead



The music is by ultra talented Alan Silvestri, a master of Westerns & Horror. Play this wonderful suite as you see My spotlight and you'll be hearing a bit of Back to the Future & Amazing Stories, Mars: The Bringer of War and even precursors as to what he'd compose for future titles. He's has such great sound



This came out in the great year of 1995, one of the last of the classic years for so many things



The movie is directed by one of greats and that is Sam Raimi, the director of the Evil Dead Trilogy & Darkman. This movie appears to have a supernatural & spooky feeling but there is nothing of the paranormal about it, the way he filmed it, and overall atmosphere just feels really cool.



The title has more than one meaning...




and has an all-star cast.



The movie's plot centers around this & Gary Sinise




The the old west town is ruled by the ruthless Herod played by Gene Hackman.



This is arguably one of his finest roles



He puts together a contest, a tournament of the best gunslingers



He & a young Russell Crowe were once partners...



now a preacher and is now at odds.



Enter Ellen, a woman scorned played by a great looking Sharon Stone



She's here to get her revenge for her father played by Gary Sinise (see above).



Some of the gun fighters in this great tournament is Kid played a 21 year old Leonardo DiCaprio



Another one is none other than an awesome looking Lance Henriksen



He's fought Aliens, Predators & Terminators. Pumpkinhead & Sasquatches. Heck, even "The Boz" & JCVD and now Herod aka Gene Hackman



Keith David is here too



Sven Ole Thorsen, the big stuntman (Arnold Schwarzenegger's stuntman & best friend) here and really looks different. He reunited with Henriksen since he was his henchman in 93's Hard Target Also, strangely, he would fight Russell Crowe 5 years later in 2000 in the epic Gladiator



Jonothon Gill (his third & final film) plays the Native American Indian who's been shot tons of times and claims that he cannot be killed



Tobin Bell has been in a few movies with Hackman as well.



Pat "Commissioner Gordon" Hingle is Horace the Bartender.




Bruce Campbell was ultimately cut from the film however if you read the end credits, he's listed as Wedding Shemp Always stay for the end credits, just not for the music but also the names, you just never know what you'll see



Hackman was something else here.



Stone's scenes were really cool.

Now that's a terrific movie. And what a cast, even though some weren't yet big names. I never knew about Bruce Campbell or if I did, I've forgotten but that's not surprising since it was a Sam Raimi film.

I never seen Heaven's Gate, just haven't got toit.

First off, I edited a couple things. I said a bit more about Sven-Ole Thorsen and I was like dang, I didn't mention about Jonothon Gill. Really, it was kind weird that it was tournament like that in 95 because the live action Mortal Kombat was the same year Yes, it sure is a terrific movie an done that really in not talked much about Yeah and I compare that a bit with Hulk Hogan's part in Gremlins 2 but at least Hogan got his part reinstated on the DVD...Campbell STILL is NOT in The Quick & the Dead as he's still in limbo there Here's another Gene Hackman movie from the great fun year of...



It's called Get Shorty with an all-star cast



So, the movie stars John Travolta coming off the heels of Pulp Fiction and teh up & coming Rene Russo. They are a gangster couple.



They have ties with big horror & sci-fi movie producer that is Gene Hackman



He get's into a whole lotta trouble



Danny Devito has a major role here.





Several years later, he would be in another major Gene Hackman movie, soon in time I will spotlight that as well




The same thing with Delroy Lindo as he's in that same movie too




The late great James Gandolfini is Bear, a big movie stuntman that loves his little girl.



Again, he's yet another that was in 95's Crimson Tide



He's pretty good with Travolta & Russo.



The late great Dennis Farina of Law & Order & Unsolved Mysteries (remember, Robert Stack was in USM and he was with Hackman in Uncommon Valor fame. He has a big, major part here, possibly his best role




Holy crap, that's Jon Gries with Lindo



He's the awesome Wolf Man in The Monster Squad...keep in mind I posted Mad Dog Coll which was Hackman's first movie...The Monster Squad's "Scary German Guy" was in that too





David Paymer is in yet another Hackman movie.



There's two guys here from 93's Jurassic Park...Miguel Sandoval & Martin Ferrero briefly appear in the movie (Pics are not from Get Shorty).




Rene Russo has always been a great looking woman. This short scene she was in, she looked pretty hot

I always liked Dennis Farina. The first thing I remember seeing him in was the tv movie The Case of the Hillside Stranglers. And then he would host a revamped Unsolved Mysteries. I remember seeing Get Shorty but don't remember caring much for it. Honestly, to this day I haven't seen Pulp Fiction. I just find Quentin Tarantino too obnoxious to watch his films.
