It is. I really recommend Prince of Egypt, is a great alternative if you want a shorter movie and you may want it to be a tradition. I will spotlight this in time. Yes, they made The King of Kings in 1927, there was some incredible movies then. Since they came out with teh remake in animated form, a lot of people are going to check that out instead of the originals  Here we go with 1961's, The King of Kings :!:

Image

Since I was at St. John the Baptist school, My Grandma wanted Me to see this when I was a youngster. I think 1st or second grade. I'm sure she rented from Verna's Mr. T's Video rentals. This is THE movie that showed Me about Jesus Christ :!:

Image

Jeffery Hunter is Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

Image
Image
Image

My Grandma MiMi always said that Hunter was perfect one to play Jesus. She just loved his eyes

Image

Siobhan McKenna os his Mother, Mary.

Image

Carmen Sevilla is Mary Magdalene.

Image

Royal Dano is Peter.

Image

Rip Torn is Judas :!:

Image

A young & great looking Viveca Lindfors is Claudia. I've expressed about her and how My Grandpa liked her :)

Image

Frank Thring is Herod Antipas.

Image

Rita Gam is Herodias.

Image

Brigid Bazlen is Salome.

Image

Robert Ryan is John the Baptis,

Image

Many others are here including Hurd Hatfield as Pontius Pilate.

Image

Orson Welles is the Narrator :!:

Image

Jesus was sentenced...

Image

and was crucified and died for the sins of humanity, little do they truly know whom he was :batsmh: :wwsmh: :smsmh:

Image

Here's the Trailer :!:

Here's the wonderful overture by Miklós Rózsa. He did some wonders of like this. He was also a big conversation around with My Grandparents. My Mom loves this too. Listen :)

Next will be The Passion of the Christ :)

I'll admit I've never really watched too many biblical films, but I appreciate the grandness of them.

That Weapons Trailer is intense.

Gosh, what a teaser there about Weapons  I have seen a bit of them and yes, there there is great grandeur about them.

Now, here's the Passion of the Christ from 2004 :!:

Image

If you ever seen this before. It tells teh last hours of Jesus's life. It show you the suffering that he went thru and and how horrible humans can be. It's not for the faint of heart. Me, My Grandma MiMi & My Auntie Wanda saw this in 2005 at the show in Ronnies Plaza in South County. It was the re-release but it was the special Director's Cut or Recut. It was an incredible experience. We had already seen the original version when We bought the VHS just a while before this. I just showcased My little Passion of the Christ Collection couple days ago for Easter. You can check it out here ---> http://dctoyrevolution.org/viewtopic.php?f=37&p=55887#p55887

Image

The movie is directed by Mel Gibson. He wanted to make the film as realistic as possible.

Image
Image

Jim Caviezel plays arguably the best Jesus performance, at least tied with Jeffery Hunter.

Image
Image
Image

Maia Morgenstern is Mary, the mother of God and Monica Bellucci is Mary Magdalene.

Image

Luca Lionello is Judas.

Image

Hristo Shopov is Pontius Pilate

Image
Image

Mattia Sbragia is Caiphas & Luca De Dominicis is Herod.

Image
Image
Image
Image

There's some scary stuff here Y there. Gibson chose a woman to play Satan and she is Rosalinda Celentano. He chose this way because Satan is all about deceiving and if Lucifer is truly Satan, they would use their androgyny (look how the world is so androgynous today).

Image
Image

Here's the Teaser :!:

Here's these two Trailers :!:

The music is phenomenal by John Debeny (Sudden Death, CutThroat island, The Relic, End of Days, The Scorpion King). Mel Gibson was originally going to chose James Horner but ultimately went with Debney and honestly, I'm glad he did

Image

Here's this promo trailer music that he wrote

Look for a continuation of John Debney in My Composer Topic very soon. I'm going to post a special interview with him & Mel Gibson plus more that your gonna wanna check out :)

I saw that Weapons trailer on YT and it looked pretty freaky. Not much to really make out of it but the kids running like that sure was creepy. Interested to see a longer trailer.

It looks good but for now it's a mystery. Andor looks pretty good and appears to tie-in nicely to Rogue One. The Passion of the Christ isn't for anybody but it's one heck of a movie to remind you what he through for humanity.

Image

Here's another great one. I consider 61's The King of Kings to be a sequel/spin-off/companion of 1959's Ben-Hur :!:

Like The Ten Commandants, this is another epic starring Charelton Heston.

Image

This is the story of two brothers who are at odds.

Image

Sam Jaffe, Haya Harareet & Stephen Boyd is here.

Image

Such remarkable scenes in this one.

Image
Image
Image

Jesus has the impact in the movie.

Image
Image

There is a lot of great visuals in the movie.

When she was a little girl, she watched many of these types of movies. One thing amazes Me is that in both, Ben-Hur & King of Kings, when they show Bethlehem, the Star is moving like a UFO like the UFOS that I have seen personally, and countless ones seen on news broadcasts among YT videos. This always Makes Me think. The deleted scenes in Prometheus explored that. Here's the Trailer :)

Like King of Kings, the music is by the legendary Miklós Rózsa. This is one of the most classic of the epics. My Grandpa PoPo used to play it all the time on his custom stereo, he just loved it. I didn't appreciate it then until later. My Mom loves it too and thinks it's far superior to Rózsa's King of Kings and I agree with that :)

Next I will post the 2016 remake and the 2016 sequel by the Asylum :)

I have seen parts of Ben Hur but never watched it from start to finish.

This just premiered today, will definitely have to watch it.

It's such a tremendous movie. Next Easter, see about it and then The King of Kings. They go so good together. That Pee-wee special looks really cool, I'm glad they're doing that :)

OK, here's the 2016 remake of Ben-Hur that I saw at the show. Things are changed a bit like Pilate already knows Jesus and dislikes him. This contradicts previous movies especially The Passion of the Christ and the Bible itself.

Image

It is way shorter and seems rushed as well, things just happen too quickly.

Image

Back in early 2016 when I saw Pride, Prejudice & Zombies (I plan on doing a spotlight in My Horror Topic in time) at the show, I was like what...this guy is going to play Ben-Hur later on in the year

Image

That guy is Jack Huston, the nephew of Angelica Huston is Judah Ben-Hur :!:

Image

Toby Kebbell is his adopted brother that he has a major fued with.

Image

Nazanin Boniadi is his nice looking love interest.

Image

Morgan Freeman is the man who befriends Ben-Hur.

Image

James Cosmo is one of the commanders of the Gallies.

Image

Rodrigo Santoro plays the lord savior Jesus Christ. I find this rather strange because...

Image

he played "The God King" Xerxes in the 300 movies prior to this

Image

The visuals in this movie is very stunning.

Image
Image

This too has the Crucifixion.

Image

Here's these cool Trailers :!:

The music was by horror master Marco Beltrami (Jerry Goldsmith's student). It is nothing as fantastical as Miklós Rózsa's score but it's still pretty good.

Next up will be the 2016 sequel/continuation story by The Global Asylum

I kind of recall that remake coming out but it wasn't really something that I would've watched. And Morgan has gone **** crazy in his old age which is sad to see.

Well, that's good because the movie became a box-office bomb  The blame is believed to be because of poor marketing  Freeman was pretty good in the movie, really nothing weird about him in this. Ah, The Omega Man. I think that was the first movie I saw Charelton Heston in. It was controversial for a while because of the interracial relationship but is nothing like that in recent times. The climax of the film is shocking to say the least

Here's the other Ben-Hur movie that was in 2016 by The Global Asylum. It's like a sequel to both but then really is a continuation of the story in general...it's called In the Name of Be-Hur :!:

Image

It's a mystery for a while who he is which is cool drama but then it is revealed :!:

Image

There is many cool warriors in the movie.

This female Asian archer is My fave :)

Here's the Trailer :!:

Another good one is next :)
